A COFFEE SHOP APP
Cafe Love

Project: Coffee Shop Website
Role: This is an individual project that allowed me to plan and direct each step of the design thinking process as a UX design experience.
Project Vision
Cafe Love's website helps users order food and drinks from the cafe. This coffee shop is usually very crowded, especially in the morning and evening. They have regular customers from the nearby offices, especially for morning and evening coffees and sandwiches. The cafe owner wants to create a website for customers to order online and track the order for quick pickup to reduce the users' waiting time and the crowd.
Challenges
Conveniently order food and drinks from the coffee shop Cafe Love.
Customize the items and get all the details about the food items.
Provide a quick way to order for a large group of people.
Provide a way to track the order to avoid the long waiting time.
Research
For this project, I conducted qualitative user research through interviews to understand user frustrations, needs, and requirements. My goal was to gain insights to understand users' processes when buying food and drinks from a crowded shop and the difficulties they face when they want to place a group order.
Goal
Understand the processes and emotions people experience when ordering food and drinks from Cafe Love.
Understand user needs and frustrations related to the product I’m designing.
By identifying and understanding the common user behaviors and experiences with tasks our product aims to address, I can ensure that our design is tailored to their needs and preferences.
Research
I interviewed a few participants and understood the users' pain points. Then, I created personas, user stories, journey maps, and if/then statements. I made a storyboard and then did a competitor audit. Every step of the process answered my user research questions.
Pain Points
Group Order
Doing group orders is a challenging part, especially when many of them need customized items.
Avoid Crowd and Track Order
Most working people want to grab a quick breakfast coffee and bite from the shop, but the crowds make them skip breakfast. They also like to track their orders to avoid the wait time.
Information and customization
People want to customize the order due to their diet and preferences; they like to see the calorie details and customize options.
Reserve the seats
People who love to work from the coffee shop and enjoy their food like to reserve their seats.
Problem statement:
Alen is a journalist who likes to find an easy way to order coffee and bites and book seats. He enjoys hanging out at Café Love and wants a place outside of his home and workplace where he can be connected and productive.

• Waiting in line to place orders and pick up items interrupts my productivity and discourages me from ordering.
• Low Wi-Fi connection and less comfortable seating cause little discomfort.
Problem statement:
Aleena is a junior employee who likes to make a good impression by offering to pick up the Café Love orders for her coworkers. She would like a feature to add customized orders and a quick pickup option without a long wait.

Competitive Analysis
I looked at a few potential competing companies. The significant features of the competing companies were similar. However, the main differences that we noticed were:
Easy accessible vs Hardly accessible
Crowded content arrangements vs. neatly arranged content
Good user flow vs complex user flow
More features vs. Basic features
Attractive interface vs. Minimal interface

Paper Wireframes
Creating paper wireframes for each screen in my book was guided by deeply understanding the users' pain points and needs. The homepage wireframe is focused on users' browsing experience and easy answers to the user's needs.
Digital Wireframes
I transferred all the paper wireframes into digital wireframes. After many iterations these are the wireframes that best represented user flow and met user needs.
Group Order Feature
Some participants didn’t understand the group order feature, so I added a description of the feature on the page.
Wireflow
Once I completed the low-fidelity prototype from the wireframe, I made a list of research questions, KPIs, and task scripts for the participants to complete during the usability study. I asked 5 participants to complete the task and give feedback, which can help for my following set of design iterations.

Some Participants found it difficult to find the customization option.
Confirmation Page:

Customization
Some Participants found it challenging to find the customization option. I added a customization button to the item page; user can navigate through that to start customization.
Confirmation Page
Some participants like to see preparation time with the tracking feature. I added a sentence that includes the preparation time to the confirmation page.
Font Size
Some participants found it difficult to see the menu bar text. I adjusted the font size.
Style Guide
I combined many colors to create this app's signature and unique colors. I want to welcome the users and help them navigate the colors warmly. These colors evoke a relaxing environment and help the users enjoy their drinks and bites.
